Feb. 10, 2021: A Contractor’s Quick Guide to Federal Labor Law Compliance

Presented by: BRIAN CLEASBY, Community Outreach and Resource Planning Specialist US DOL / Wage &Hour Division

An overview of three Acts enforced by the Wage & Hour Division: the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA); the Davis-Bacon and Related Acts (DBRA); and the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA).

The presentation will cover the minimum wage, overtime, child labor, and hours worked requirements under the FLSA, with a particular focus on the construction industry. The presentation will also include a brief overview of the requirements under the DBRA with respect to federal prevailing wage construction projects, and the employee job protection rights under the FMLA for employers with at least 50 workers.

High density wood frame construction fires can be a threat to not only worker’s lives but also the communities we build in, but they don’t have to be. Here we cover cost effective fire prevention measures including; pre-planning, and the journey through a project from temporary protection to permanent protection.

The recent passage of the economic aid act brought with it several updates to Paycheck Protection Program (PPP), PPP forgiveness, Economic Injury Disaster Loan (EIDL) and other SBA COVID relief programs. Please join us at the virtual roundtable event sponsored by Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) office to help walk you through what’s new and what’s next for these programs. We will give an overview of the programs available and the resources that can assist you in navigating these programs and answer any questions.

SARI Annual Holiday Meeting - December 12, 2019

On Thursday December 12th SARI members attended our annual holiday meeting graciously hosted by FM Global, we will witness one or two of the testing lab demonstrations (TBD) and conduct a business meeting with a round table discussing future training topics.
